Old Glory and the WCC03 – Sketch

This weeks Watercooler Challenge with its sketch came just in time to help me celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July.

And here’s my interpretation:

A Folk Art impressionistic version of Old Glory I guess you could say.   With Fourth of July this Friday  it seemed appropriate.

 

In the sketch the bow element was over a skosh but with such a large bow that was a tiny tad tricky so I went for the element rather than the exact placement.  Are you wondering where that Gold (Old Glory has to have gold right?) Twine came from…is it still Stampin’ Up product?   You betcha.   It’s the remaining thread from the Gold Sequin Trim once I slid a large number of sequins off to use individually.   This folk design, impressionistic flag just called out for a bit of gold to replicate the fringe you see on very fancy silk flags.

Then of course I couldn’t help retweaking  just a bit so I added a greeting.  Not sure if that’s allowed with the challenge or if that greeting constitutes another element.  Still new to the challenge scene.  And still learning the rules.

I’m curious what you all think…did the second violate the sketch or not?  Which do you prefer.

I don’t know about you but summer temps (104º and 80% humidity) are doing a number on my creativity so a blog hop with fun and inspiring projects may be just the thing.   Here’s hoping the fireworks on the 4th break the heat wave!
