2015 Holiday Catalog Retiring Products – Grab Them Before They Go!!

We’re saying goodbye to retiring products from the holiday catalog; but before we do, we’re giving everyone an opportunity to order their favorites.

Dates: November 16, 2015-January 4, 2016 (or while supplies last)

  1. Retiring Stamps will continue to be made until December 28th.  After that date all retiring stamps will be available while supplies last.
  2. All dies, paper and accessories on the list are now while supplies last.

PDF version of the retiring List: US_HolidayRetiringList

Now for the Good News…….

What didn’t appear on the retiring list will…according to what we we’ve been told…carry over for a few more months (possibly longer – yep…I’m crossing my fingers on these).  So without further ado….

2015 Holiday Catalog Carryovers2

Some Holiday Catalog items are not on the retiring list – they will still be available during the run of the Occasions Catalog Sales period (January 5-May 31, 2016).  I created the following carryover list for your convenience based on what didn’t appear in the retiring list.

PDF version of the carrying over list: 2015 Holiday Catalog Carryovers

Time to check your wish lists and snap up those items you want to finish all your holiday stamping.

Happy Holiday Stamping!!

Honey Bunny and a bunch of paper bunny friends.

Earth Day April 22

Happy Earth Day everyone!  Time for the planet to celebrate right?  So grab your tie dye and granny glasses or just a trash bag and head for the beach, the mountains or just your park down the road and give Mother Nature a hand in whatever way you can.   There are lots of links online to what’s happening in your own communities.   Using Google just enter Earth Day in (insert town and state) to find ways to help and ways to party.

Since bunnies are a creature of the earth I thought is was more than time to share a few more bunny box pictures and my own tip sheet.

Today is also my own honey bunnies birthday (would be his 60th if he wasn’t already in Heaven).  Do they celebrate birthdays in Heaven?  I’ve always wondered.

If you haven’t seen the other bunny boxes I’ve made and posted here is a refresher:

Jean's WCC21 - Bunny Box CASE of Linda Parkerclick here to see the post

James Bunny Bond - Bunny Box - CASE of Linda Parker - Jean Fitch - watermarkclick here to see the post

I just noticed that James must have been on a dangerous assignment (getting between me and the chocolate kisses possibly?) recently…one of his toe pads has gone walkabout.  Sigh…even a tuxedo is no guarantee of safety these days. 😀

I do have a close up of his sign so you can see the pretty All is Calm paper.  The lettering was done with the Rotary Alphabet stamp (it’s bigger than the sign for sure).  I cut a rectangle and rounded the corners then added the “stake”.  Pretty paper on the front and reinforced on the back with a strip of Basic Black cardstock.

Bunny Bond sign - watermark

Bunny Bond back of sign - watermark(Yeah…the placement could have been a bit better. :D)

Stay tuned for a bride for the tuxedo bunny…sans sign of course. I’m still trying to decide on the dress.  Isn’t that just like a bunny bride…slow to decide instead of hopping to it?

Here are a couple more fun bunnies.  At Easter time I made some for the neighbors and of course they said Happy Easter.  Now that Easter is past I’ve swapped out for Hello Spring!  Assuming Spring is planning on visiting for more than a day or two here and there.  No pressure Spring…I just want to say Hello.

Cabana Boy and Pink Chick bunny boxes

Cabana Boy and Pink Chick take 2

Does it look to you as if Cabana Boy stole a kiss (chocolate of course) from Pretty in Pink Chick?

The supplies and directions links from the earlier posts have the basics.  These two were done in Pretty in Pink (retired color) and Coastal Cabana (about to retire In Color).  I used the Sale-a-Bration Coastal Cabana ribbon and button and the flower centers for Cabana boy are Bermuda Bay.  Doesn’t it just seem as if those two names and colors are meant to be together?

Here’s a tip and tricks sheet with various links and more in the way of directions:

Bunny Boxes – A Linda Parker CASE with info & tips sheet

And here’s Linda Parker’s Video that gave me the idea for the CASE (copy and share everything):

That’s it for the bunnies.  Can’t wait to see what you create for yourself (I’d love a link to your creation).  I just know there are other famous bunnies waiting to come to life as a bunny box.

As a reminder:

Follow His Star: Christmas Star ideas – new single stamps from Stampin’ Up just in time for the holiday crafting rush!

Today Stampin’ Up released a set of single stamps for the Christmas Holidays and among them was a gorgeous and large star image – Christmas Star.

Christmas Star - single stamp image

To celebrate Melody H. a Stampin’ Up concept artist posted some wonderful designs on the SU customer blog.   I’ve recreated her post here on my blog for your enjoyment and inspiration.

If you’ve never followed the SU blog you really should give it a look.  The posts are always inspiring and stimulate the creative centers of my mojo.  I’ve pinned several of my favorites on my Stampin’ Up blog board here.

Of course we also have a very fun Holiday Catalog for you to peruse and order from as well as a Carryover List from past years.  😀

New Single Stamps—Christmas Star

Simply Stars is one of my favorite new stamp sets. The new Christmas Star single stamp is quickly climbing the ranks. I’m a fan of big images, and this one is definitely big.

I love stars because they are very versatile. It isn’t an overtly feminine or masculine shape and can be used year-round for all kinds of projects.

This framed décor project is a fun collection of different textures and patterns. Because the star stamp is so large, it easily becomes a popped-up 3D star by scoring and folding. I also used the Chevron Border Punch, the Expressions Thinlits Dies, and a canvas banner piece from the Banner Simply Created Kit in the holiday catalog.

photo-1---picture-frame - blog post

photo-2---picture-frame - blog post

The Mini Muslin Bag project was a lot of fun to do, too. To get a perfectly crisp image, I heat embossed the star with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto parchment paper, then ironed it onto the muslin bag. It does take the shine off of the embossing powder, but it guarantees a perfect image and perfect placement every time.

photo-3---muslin-bag - blog post

This bag would be a perfect holiday gift. I made a bundle of five note card-sized greeting cards and paired them with the new Crumb Cake Note Card envelopes. These cards are very simple—just the Christmas Star stamped in Sahara Sand ink and the Season’s Greetings sentiment from the Joy to The World Stamp Set embossed in gold. I finished it off with a quick Linen Thread bow.

I’ve got several other ideas for using this beautiful stamp. It’s going on my next order for sure. What will you make with the Christmas Star?

Melody H. Concept Artist

To grab a copy of the single stamp flyer for yourself click on the flyer image below.  One note.  The images on the flyer are shown at 50% size.  To see a closer to actual sizing set your PDF sizing to 200%.    I also checked with Stampin’ Up.  The nativity image is just a bit big for our newest Thinlit Circle Flip die.  If you lose the border on the image it will likely fit.

More Cards in the Mail from Convention!

My mailbox runneth over….with more cards in the mail from Convention.  Yep…that’s two out of the 2,984 that created that amazing Guinness World Record for Stampin’ Up!  You can read more about that remarkable achievement here in my previous post.

The friends I’ve made since I took up stamping in 2006 have been amazing.   Close, creative and inspiring.

Karen Huber who sent me this very special & delightful card is one of them.   Karen and I met through Stampin’ Connection (a demonstrator online community site).   And the rest is history.   A fun one involving wacky watercoolers and more!

Blooming With Kindness - Karen Huber - watermarked

After a quick troll through the catalog here’s what I’ve found for Karen’s ingredients.

Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness, Papillon Potpourri

Paper: Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper, Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Coastal Cabana & Wisteria Wonder Cardstocks

Ink: Basic Gray & Wisteria Wonder & Crushed Curry (inside)

Other: Big Shot, Floral Fusion Sizzlit die, Small Butterfly punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Circle Scallop punches, Basic Jewel Rhinestones,  Regals Candy Dots, Basic Gray 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, dimensionals and adhesive.

This is one happening card!   And a labor of love on Karen’s part.  I can see why this was a popular swap card that’s turning up on some pretty cool blogs all over the Stampin’ Up Ether.   Thanks Karen for making me part of a historic event!     Glad you survived Convention even though it involved hobbling on a broken foot!

Here’s another record setting event Karen and many of my Convention friends also took part in:

Convention 2013 Service Project

While it didn’t earn a plaque or other memento it was certainly memorable as 5800 demonstrators came together to build and fill over 2,000 kits for kids who spend their birthdays in a local Children’s Hospital.   That’s a personal record for Stampin’ Up and a wonderful way to fulfill the 25th Convention goal to Be the Difference!    Do you see that wall art from the Children’s ward?   That’s a Wish Tree Stampin’ Up provided with die cut pieces for kids and their families to add their wishes to the tree on the wall in the Children’s ward.   Here’s a few more pictures showing what it’s all about.

Stampin' Up Wishing Wall Tree at Children's Hospital in SLC

Wish medallions on the wishing tree

Wish medallions on the tree

Stampin Up's wish on the wishing tree

Don’t those wishes blow you away?  It certainly does me.  Also makes me proud to be a part of a company that cares and gives back for and from all of us.   Stampin’ Up works during the year to keep the kids craft cupbards filled as well as providing special things like the birthday kits.   Way to Be the Difference Stampin’ Up!

My wish for you and your families is a joy filled life.   And if you find yourself in hospital on a birthday…I hope you find a box with banners and other celebratory goodies waiting to help you make it a better day.   Of course NOT spending your birthday in a hospital would be even better right?

Hugs and blessings – Jean

Card in the mail heralds a world record!

If you hang out in the Stampin’ Up world you’ve probably heard.  Stampin’ Up is the proud owner of a Guinness World Record that was set at our recent annual Convention in Salt Lake City.  Nice achievement to celebrate a 25th Anniversary don’t you think?

So what was the record and what does it have to do with my card in the mail?  So glad you asked…..

Guiness World Record

Did you see…most greeting cards sent  from a single location!

Guiness World Record - Most greeting cards sent from one location - it's official

And of course a nice plaque to hang in the Home Office.

Guinness World Record Plaque

So what did I get?

World Record - Hey There Friend - Deb Naylor - watermarked

My very own card from the thousands (2,984 to be exact) that were sent to set the record.  How’s that for owning a piece of Stampin’ Up history?  I love it!    My heartfelt thanks to friend and fellow demonstrator Deb Naylor for including me in this record setting convention experience.   You can read Deb’s excellent blog here.   Lots of inspiring projects and of course the latest news on Stampin’ Up products.   Stay tuned on her blog for grandkid updates.  Deb’s been visiting in my own home state of Oregon with family.  Here’s hoping her kitties forgive her though I bet they’ve been loving on the housesitter in her absence.  Cats are like that right?

Here’s the Supplies  I’ve sussed out that Deb used in her card.   It was one of her popular swap cards for convention.

Card Details:

Card dimension (folded):  3″ x 6″

Brilliant sizing as it means she got 4 card bases per sheet of Whisper White 12″ x 12″ cardstock.  And it gave her lots of room to play.  Apart from the basic layers the rest uses up scraps.

Layer sizing:

DSP: 3″ x 2″     Cardstock Mat: 2-1/4″ x 3″

Stamps: Mosaic Madness, Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit stamp (hey there, friend)

Ink: Strawberry Slush In Color Ink Pad

Paper: Whisper White & Strawberry Slush cardstock, Quatrefancy Specialty DSP

Punches: Mosiac, Decorative Label, Extra Large Oval, Large Oval, Scalloped Oval

Other: Big Shot, Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder, Basic Jewel Rhinestones, Dimensionals and adhesive.

So there you have it.   Another installment of Cards in the Mail and a little slice of Stampin’ Up history.   That’s a lot to fit in my mailbox on the highway!

Hugs and blessings to you all – may your week be sunny and filled with joy! –  Jean
