Vintage Frames…One Stencil…with very different looks

Hi All,

I’ve started playing with the new stencil “Vintage Frames” from the new Holiday Mini.  Given my love of stencils you just knew it had to be coming right?    And this time you don’t even have to make your own.  It’s already cut and waiting for you to order in the new mini!

Side note:  I keep spelling Holiday HOliday.   Maybe the HO, HO, HO spirit is already entering my fingers?

I manfully resisted  (or is that womanfully) creating post titles such as:

Stampin’ Up Framed again!  or Have you been framed yet?  I have!

Must have been a misspent youth…my brother was always trying to get me in trouble and I returned the favor in spades – LOL!  Oh that wasn’t the kind of frame you were thinking of…okay on to the Stampin’ Up version…..

Both of the following cards use different portions of the Vintage Frames stencil and were quick and dirty samples for a recent Stamp Camp.  Basically each were 10 minute or less cards.

Special Note: this stencil is quite large! The full sheet measures 13″ x 17″ and contains three separate designs.  There is enough separation between the designs that you do not have to worry about inadvertently getting ink/paint in an adjoining area.  For ease of use you could even cut the stencil into it’s separate design elements.

(please ignore the craft paper background that isn’t part of the card – my scanner requires a bit more contrast for Whisper White and Very Vanilla filled cards)

Vintage  Corner Flourish

Stamp: Leaf Lines (text)

Paper: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Very Vanilla
Other: Scallop Oval Punch, 1-3/8 x 5/8 oval punch, Two step bird punch, Vintage Frames Decor Stencil (small detail area)

Stencil was held down with a bit of Dotto  and sponge daubers used to color a small portion of the detail.

Tip:  To get into some tight areas when mixing colors you might want to substitute q-tips for daubers.

I truly love how versatile this new stencil is.  With 3 different design areas you have a number of choices.  Works for small or large projects.    In sizing the stencils are perfect for Scrapbook pages or adding details to framed photos and art.   Or to embellish walls and beautifully frame windows and doors for home decor.  You can also, as I did,  isolate smaller areas for use on cards and other smaller projects.   Several of the designs would also be perfect for glass etching with etching paste.  Wouldn’t that make a lovely holiday or wedding gift… Etched glass on picture frames or glass coasters?

Tip:  Another sizing note…the center image fills a 5×5 card almost side to side.

Any ink type will work with this stencil including the Shimmer Paints, Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink and of course our Classic and Craft inks.   You can even use Versamark for a Watermark image or add embossing powder and emboss as I did with the Elegant Trio Stencil here.

Julie Buhler over on her Blog Paper Pleasing Ideas has even come up with a way to use Crystal effects with this stencil –
