WWC85 – A Limited Color and Copper Challenge

Watercooler Wednesday’s – WWC85 – A Limited Color and Copper Challenge

wwc85-jeans-color-challenge-image-revised

Welcome to this weeks Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

For me this challenge (courtesy of yours truly) is all about the copper.  The elegance it lends to a crisp Black and White set of colors.    I am so in love with all the copper products that Stampin’ Up has loaded into our catalogs so far this year.  Sadly I couldn’t quite figure out how to include the little copper pine cones from the Holiday Catalog.  Though now that I think of it I could have tied one or two onto the ribbon.  Ah well…no distractions from the beautiful basket this way.

I don’t know about you but when I saw the new “Basket for You” hostess set in the annual catalog I immediately thought…copper embossing…YES!   Saves on time spent in coloring and adds a more elegant touch to a decidedly casual basket.  Another thing I love about this image…no risk of hayfever with a basket like this!    For as long as I’ve had the idea (June), for some reason I keep forgetting to make the basket design.  Might have been a good thing too, since the Copper Foil only came out September 1 with the launch of the Holiday Catalog.  That subtle mat of copper real adds the perfect contrast don’t you think?

Supplies:

Stamps:   Basket for You (2016-2017 Annual Catalog Hostess Set),  Rose Wonder (sentiment)

Inks: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper: Basic Black & Whisper White Thick Cardstocks; Copper Foil Paper

Punches: none

Tools & Adhesives: Heat Tool, Copper Embossing Powder, SNAIL, 1/8″ Taffeta Whisper White Ribbon (retired), Glue Dot.

Technique:   Heat Embossing

Measurements & Tips:

Card Base – Whisper White Thick Cardstock – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″   Score fold at 4-1/4″

Copper Foil Layer – 3-1/2″ x 3-3/4″

Basic Black Focal Layer – 3-1/4″ x 3-1/2″

1) Stamp the basket image on the Basic Black piece (centered) in Versamark and then heat emboss with Copper Embossing Powder.

2) Adhere the Black embossed image piece to the Copper Foil.  Tip:  Before adhering use a die or punches to remove foil from the center of the layer piece so as not to waste that beautiful foil paper.   For this size I used the Decorative Label Punch and punched out two nice sized labels from the center of the foil piece.  A square die from the Layered Squares dies would have worked well too.

3) Adhere the matted focal piece to your White card base.  Copper emboss the flower image from the Basket for You set below the focal layer.

4) Stamp the sentiment next to the copper embossed flower image and add ribbon or other embellishments as desired.   Voila!  Done!   If mailing another copper embossed flower on the envelope would be a nice touch don’t you think?
