Watercooler Wednesday Challenge – WWC75 – Christmas in July Paper Pumpkin Style!

Apologies everyone for the late post.  I had it scheduled but it didn’t go out as indicated.  Sigh….

WWC75 – Deborah’s Sketch Challenge

WWC75 - Deborah's Sketch Challenge July 6

Welcome to this weeks Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

When you need it to be quick…it’s time to reach for a kit!

At least that’s what I did for Deb’s lovely sketch challenge.  It fit so perfectly with a past Paper Pumpkin Kit that’s been sitting on my desk as inspiration for an upcoming Christmas in July event.

As many of you know I’ve been struggling with health issues the last month so reaching for a kit was the perfect solution that allowed me to participate in this weeks challenge with a minimal amount of time and energy.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge - WWC75-08 Deb's Sketch Challenge - Christmas in July Paper Pumpkin Style

Except for the Whisper White card base everything else is from a past Paper Pumpkin kit.

Do you recognize this Paper Pumpkin Kit?   It’s from November 2015’s monthly offering.  So popular the extra kits sold out within less than a week.  Sorry about tempting you with this.  LOL   Of course this is an alternative variation so as to fit in with Deb’s Sketch Challenge.

Here’s a picture of what the original kit projects looked like.   I think you’ll recognize the bits I used.

Nice amount of goodies in that kit don’t you think?  If you want to skip the original design (create your own various possibilities) and add a few additional basics you can easily get triple the number of cards from the kit.   That’s part of what I like about Paper Pumpkin.  You always get an ink spot of varying colors (sometimes two of them), a full set of stamps (varying in number of stamps) and lots of embellishments and basic materials.  From there my imagination can take off.  Of course some months it’s fun and soothing to just make the kit up as indicated.

Supplies:

Stamps: Mistletoe & Holly – November 2015 Paper Pumpkin stamp set

Inks: Cherry Cobbler

Paper: Whisper White Cardstock and Kit contents

Punches: none

Tools & Adhesives:  Stampin’ block C,  Tombow, SNAIL and kit contents

I really love Cherry Cobbler in my holiday designs.  It’s the perfect color to match with Crumb Cake, greens and of course gold and silver.  It’s what I consider my Christmas neutral.  (grin).   I could wish that it photographed a bit better though.  Tends to show up as a bright Real Red unless you do a bit of manipulation.

Hopefully this post has shown you how useful the Paper Pumpkin kits (and their stamps) are even after their time has passed.   I tend to use mine over and over since the sets are always fun and interesting.  Perfect for the sentiments I want to express and fun images to create my own designs.   Of course the smart thing to do is to make up the kits when you get them so the cards or goodies are ready to send out.  One of these days I’ll learn my lesson.  For today though…I’m happy I had one of the extra kits to hand so I could jump into the challenge before heading back to bed.

If you’d like to join in the Paper Pumpkin fun you can sign up here to receive a monthly surprise or you can purchase a somewhat longer term prepaid subscription here.  The cool thing about prepaids are that they have the potential to earn you hostess rewards since they can be added to any order and increase your totals!   Either way you subscribe….it’s a fun monthly crafting break and you have the opportunity to purchase extra refills (at a greatly reduced price) kits you fall in love with.

  1. I love your card, Jean. Yes, I’ve still got some of that pp kit left, and will definitely keep your card as one to case.

    Thanks!
