Sweet Treat Cups: New Video from Stampin’ Up!

Hi All,

With Christmas almost here and Valentines not far away sweets seem to be in all our minds.  Well mine anyway…LOL!  😀

Not sure what it is about winter but my sweet tooth just seems to go into overdrive.  That nightly cup of Hot Chocolate just seems to be a necessity too!    Of course I tell myself that’s because of the cold….that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.   What I can’t figure out is why Wicketcat’s sweet tooth seems to go into overdrive as well.   Funny to watch a cat beg for applesauce!!   And of course every Christmas movie shows cookies and milk or cocoa being left out for Father Christmas.  Which reminds me…if you haven’t seen ABC’s Prep and Landing animated Christmas special check out this link to the online version – http://abc.go.com/watch/disney-prep-and-landing/SH5597287/VD5597543/prep–landing?cid=fullepisodeaccess

So with all that sweetness in mind…. what better time to take a quick look at Stampin’ Up’s Sweet Treat Cups.

Here’s a couple of ideas from Stampin’ Up’s online site project files.

Currently we have two shapes of treat cups and 3 coordinating stamp sets.  Of course the cups will work with any stamp set really but the coordinating sets have stamps sized to fit the circles and ready for any holiday or occasion.

Stampin’ Up! just released a new quick project video over on their YouTube Channel Site.  Thought you might enjoy a quick look.

Now that you’ve seen what they can do on a basic card here’s a look at the coordinating items and a few links for further inspiration including links to tutorials showing you how to make cunning trap doors so the cards don’t have to be deconstructed to get the candy or other treat out.  Warning:  some are also filled with water for snowglobes…those you might not want a trap door in 😀 !

Something Sweet –  Wood Mount #117688, $27.95    Clear Mount #118589, $19.95,

Also available in French

While the gumball image maybe the most popular the other images have some alternate uses – the “handle” designed for use with the circle as a magnifying lens, a rattle or a hand mirror (or whatever else you can imagine)  can also be used alone as a baseball bat or maybe even a turkey drumstick!  Also a droopy tie for a Dad’s Day card or a wattle on a punched turkey creation.  A couple of the small images are actually flower petals and leaves.     Quite a few versions of “trap” doors have been invented that allow you to pull the goodies in the treat cups insides out (assuming you want them out ) without destroying the card.   A number of creative crafters are also using various kinds of gel to simulate a water environment to create faux snowglobe type cards.  And some truly crazy crafters are actually putting water in them too!  Hate to see what the post office and their security machines would make of that!

Sweet Centers  116521,  $29.95   Wood Mount only

Available in Spanish

This is the original stamp set that came out before the clear mount option was made available.  You can see a card I made using the flowers and leaves last year here.

The images give you a wide range for occasions with Valentines Day(heart), Christmas (ornament hanger), and Halloween (Eek image) covered.  Leaving the flower petal, leaves and Balloon basket to cover any other use.  Of course you’ll also need either the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch or the Movers and Shapers Circle die (from the Holiday Windows collection of dies) to make your holes for the treat cups.   One other note.  These stamp images even work without the treat cups since you can substitute punched images or photographs, etc.  Wonderful images for scrapbooking as well as cards.    Lots of fun 3D uses too.

Here’s what Stampin’ Up has to say:

Our Sweet Centers stamp set makes it easy to create ornaments, treat bags, cards, and more. Combine it with the Sizzix® Holiday Windows die and Sweet Treat cups for even greater results!  Also available in Spanish.

Sweetheart  – Wood Mount #120415, $21.95     Clear Mount #120780,  $15.95

Also available in French

Another set that works with or without the heart shaped treat cups using either the Full Size Heart Punch or the Heart shaped Movers and Shapers die.   Something else to think about…you can use the heart images to create 4 leaf clovers for St. Patrick’s Day – just stamp using green ink!  Of course you can use this all year round but with Valentines coming up it’s the absolute perfect time of year to buy this very fun set.

Here’s Stampin’ Up’s notes:

Show your sweetheart how much you care with the Sweetheart stamp set. Coordinates perfectly with our Heart Treat Cups and Full Heart punch! Available in both wood and clear-mount.
