My Blog Picks and Posts from Here and There Around the Web #23

Hi All,

Here’s my latest set of Blog Picks from here and there around the web.  Generally, you’ll see all SU here on my blog but here and there I find inspiration that is eminently CASEable with SU Product so will share that as well with suggestions for alternate stamps and paper.  Feel free to copy and paste this list and pass it around to fellow stampers or customers or whoever.   Keep in mind there is a lot of inspiration out there and these are just a few of what I’ve found that struck my fancy (so it’s very subjective).   If you are an SU demo or customer and would like to see a more extensive list I have newsletters for both groups (free for right now) with more details, FYI, video and tutorial links.  Email me if you are interested.   Now with that plug out of the way here’s this weeks list of links.

Thanks to Debbie Flattum a sister demo who posts on Late Night Stampers over on Yahoo I learned the following trick for using Clear Blocks for measuring ribbon

(this trick will work great for cutting yarn to make fringe on Valentine scarves I knit!):

Many times, I need to cut several pieces of ribbon that are the same length.  I usually use a piece of cardboard or several pieces of cardstock to wrap my ribbon around numerous times, then cut all the pieces at once along the top and bottom.

Well, have you noticed the awesome grooves on our clear blocks?  Guess what??  The long clear block (‘I’) is perfect for 6″ ribbon!  So, if you need a lot of 6″ ribbon, just wrap it around the ‘I’ block several times.  Then, use the grooves to guide your scissors along the top and bottom of the block and cut.  Ta-da!!  Or, just cut it once and you’ll have 12″ ribbon.  Check out the size of the other blocks and you can cut many sizes all at once.  Great time saver!!

Another Clear mount tip from a fellow demo:

I have found when my stamps or blocks are too cold they do not like to stick so I did a couple of things: I warmed them both up by rubbing them on my pants back and forth really fast (friction) and sometimes I huffed on the blocks and then pressed for a few seconds and they worked great.  I don’t always have to do this but they really don’t like the cold.  I live in Iowa and it has been very cold.

Let it Snow

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the inks look so delightful
So while the winter is cold and damp
Let us stamp! Let us stamp! Let us stamp!

It doesn’t take much convincing
And I’ve brought a tool for crimping
Choose some paper, turn up the lamp
Let us stamp! Let us stamp! Let us stamp!

When we carefully press just right
How we smile as the image unfolds
Add some color, so bold, so bright
The result is a sight to behold.

Our projects are quickly drying
And there’s new techniques for trying
So until we get finger cramps
Let us stamp! Let us stamp! Let us stamp!

Happy Holidays!!
