Frugal Friday: Say Goodbye to….Polka Dot and Friend by Definition Background stamps

Happy Friday my frugalista friends!

Hard to believe another week has come and gone.  Just like some of my favorite stamps! 😀  Sad to say the dormant list has only 18 more days of life (Wahhhhhhh…..) before many beloved stamps disappear into the vaults of good times past.   Unfortunately SU caught me short so several of the Under $20 stamps in this list won’t make the feature list.  I’m trying to stay positive here, especially since I know we have quite a few new stamps just champing at the bit to make it into stamp rooms across the country but I have to say my first thought when I heard the dormant list was retiring early was to plan a funeral!

Before they disappear for good I thought I should feature two more lovely background stamps that deserve a permanent place in any stamp library.

Polka Dot – #109276, $17.95, dormant list

This lovely stamp has been on the dormant list for quite awhile and is slated to retire January 4th so check it out and order it while you can.  Granted the new Occasions mini has a polka dot impressions folder there are still times when only an inked set of dots will do.  While it may be retired soon I know this stamp is going to stay in the on deck circle of my stamp room.  Too good not to use.

You can also use polka dot stamps to add dots to ribbon – craft ink or staz-on works well for this.  Though for taffeta ribbon classic ink works well.

Friend by Definition – #109425,  $17.95, dormant list

Whether you use this stamp image as a full background image as in many of the links below or you cut it up into smaller elements it will be clear that friends and friendship is your theme.  This stamp expands the size possibilities for popular images like the define your life series while retaining the charm of those smaller stamps.

Tip:  For customized embellishments both the Polka Dot and Friends by Definition Background stamps (actually any background stamp works well for this :D) have another very fun use.  Stamp in your favorite color ink across the blossoms from the Pretties kit for a very fun, hip and chic look. And with the size of the background stamps you can stamp quite a few at one time!    And punched circles also stamped across in a similar way can then be fanned out to create a fun flower blossom as well.

Here’s a list of the other Under $20 stamps from the dormant list you might want to Google before they are gone.   To see images and prices and order numbers check out the dormant list with pictures SCRIBD link in my sidebar.   You can find all the Under $20 stamps and wheels lists there too.  And next week I’ll be posting the list that relates to the new Occasions catalog as well.
