Tightwad Tuesday: Featuring – Four the Holidays, Simple Seasonal Thanks, Merriment and Wheels

Hi All,

Welcome once again to another edition of Tightwad Tuesday where we look at stamps and wheels under $20 and the odd tip or two.  For a complete listing of Under $20 stamps in the main catalog and the Holiday mini check the downloads to view or print in the right hand sidebar.

As I mentioned last week I’ve stepped up the number of entries to try to get us through the magnificently long list of Holiday related entries in the under $20 category.  Keep in mind that wheels are a wonderful and inexpensive way to introduce kids to stamping.  A wheel a handle and an ink cartridge together are still under or mostly under the Frugal limit I’ve imposed.  And if the color ink you are wanting is not available in a preinked cartridge SU has uninked blank cartridges available for you to customize with any of our many family or in color colors.

Links were a bit thin on the ground for the sets and wheels on offer today.   While I’ve seen the stamps in question used in many a blog post Google was not cooperating in finding them once again for me and quite a few of us aren’t posting as regularly as we might to the online galleries with the newest stamps and wheels.  Just a reminder that Stampin Addicts is looking to fill out their gallery offerings and to that end are running a contest with the prize being the Sweet Season stamp set featured last week.

Simple Seasonal Thanks sample

Simple Seasonal Thanks image

Simple Seasonal Thanks

#111548, $17.95, pg. 28 Holiday Mini

Single large stamp –

Tip: you can excise the center text and mount on the reverse side of the block thus allowing you to use it alone, with this image or with others.  And leaving the snowman to be used alone.  Stamp image is of a size to allow for stenciling inside the image to work perfectly.  Perfect for use with the Sweet Treat cups as well.

As an alternative if you are uncomfortable performing surgery on your stamps you can leave the text where it is and ink around it with markers for an image only stamp.

Christmas Greetings - image file

Christmas Greetings – #115448, $13.95,  pg. 28 IBC

Also available in French and Spanish.

2 stamps in set give both a greeting and a text appropriate to the season for a very reasonable cost.  And if you ever wished you could have at least one French or Spanish Christmas greeting this is a very economical way to fulfill those wishes.  I have all three on my holiday wish list so I can create multilingual cards and projects.

Merriment image file

Merriment – #115556, $6.95, pg. 208

Another of the frugally priced single stamps from the back page of the catalog this stamp is a perfect text for many holiday cards.

Tip: Fits well inside many punches thus lending itself to a variety of layering options and a perfect candidate for shimmer paint or embossing with dazzling diamonds or other sparkly treatments.  If you get your SAMJ out you could emboss the merry in red or other color and the bright in silver or white for a two tone image.

Santa's Lineup Wheel image

Santa’s Line Up  Jumbo Wheel – #113120, $8.50, pg. 41 IBC

I think I’ve mentioned that this wheel would work wonderfully well with the new Dasher stamp among others.

Here’s what SU has to say:  When it’s time to deliver presents all over the world, Santa relies on his trusty lineup. Coordinating with the Holiday Lineup stamp set, Santa’s Lineup jumbo Stampin’ Around wheel calls on each member of the herd by name. Use these coordinating products for Christmas cards, gifts, and packaging.

Fun Fact:  And under the heading of fun facts I should also point out that the use of the name Donder instead of Donner is not in fact an error on SU’s part.  This topic comes up for discussion quite regularly and it turns out that the originals of the related poems and stories using the names do in fact use Donder.  Here’s a few references you might find helpful in this debate:

Soft Holly standard wheel image

Soft Holly Standard Wheel – #112968, $6.50, pg. 35, 205

Spread the cheer of Christmas with this festive and traditional border. Create a holly garland for your projects that will look stunning—complete with little berries.

This soft image lends itself well to embossing in color or in either of our metallics.  As a background, a border, a frame or cut up into small or large focal images this is one of the most versatile of todays featured frugal entries.  This wheel alone or paired with the Four the Holidays or Christmas Greetings would still be under $20 and would quickly and easily provide you with a multitude of Holiday greeting cards.   And of course wheels are perfect for scrapbook projects as well.

  1. Hi my friend. Greetings and hugs to you and the furballs. thanks for doing this collection again this week – I love coming along and seeing what you have chosen. You also reminded me that I haven’t been tagging my cards with the sentiments… cos it’s just the sentiment! Then I realized, I really should have, especially as I have used the Christmas Greetings so often – it’s my favorite sentiment set for this year! Also, you reminded me to go support StampinAddicts – so I went along and did that today, too.
I hope you have a fabulous Tuesday and thanks for everything you do for all of us!
    Love and hugs
    Jaydee

  2. What a great post…thank you!

  3. Hi Jean-
Enjoying your research (as always) – just have to pass on to you that I left comments on Ann’s website-followed a link about being “Dasherfied”-stamperdog- and told her I found my way there through your site. She may check out your great stuff too-don’t think she’s “met” you in the stamping world, and thought it was a small world that I found her through you.
I think it’s great that you share ideas and help us all to connect!
    Thanks!
