Frugal Friday Features:Sweet Season, Home for Christmas, Bearing Gifts

Hi All,

Today we’re continuing our look at Holiday themed stamps and wheels under $20.  For a full listing of all Under $20 stamps and wheels both in the full IBC and the Holiday Mini please check the sidebar lists or download from my SCRIBD files.    Today  we have 3 sets featured all of which have the theme of Gifts and Home and Sweets…the perfect Holiday combination.

Home for Christmas (#11756, $18.95, 34)  Also available in French (# 111866 )

This set first debuted in the 2008 Holiday Mini and was popular enough for inclusion in the 2009-2010 Annual Catalog.  Some of the links here will have retired product but the layouts and overall design should give you some fun ideas.  The beautiful sentiment “A Christmas Wish…” is one of the reasons people buy this set.  The frugal price another and those who love Watercoloring have yet another reason.  This set lends itself  to so many styles of stamping from intense Watercoloring to just a few highlights or a simple monochromatic stamping.  So something for everyone!

Home for Christmas French Version ImagesTo read the French texts click on the image to enlarge.  The little box while cute is actually from another stamp set (Winter Post) but I couldn’t figure out how to airbrush it out of the picture :D.  Something I hadn’t paid much attention to in the past are the footsteps leading up to the door.  That subtle detail is part of what leads me to think the door will open soon on a warm and welcoming scene and reinforces the sense of some one roaming coming home.

Sweet Season (#116471, $18.95, pg. 29)

Coordinates with Two Tags Bigz die, Scallop Circle Punch, Wide Oval Punch – Works for Thanksgiving, Christmas and all year round.  While the Gingerbread stamp is maybe a bit too obviously Holiday the other three will work all year round.  Especially for neighbor gifts, hostess gifts, etc.   And as you can see from the sample picture perfect for use with the new food safe Treat Boxes.   A quick 5 minute gift when you use the treat boxes and add a tag using this set.  Great for tags on presents too.  And my personal favorite Bookmarks using the Two Tags  die (click on the name to see the die image)  with my Big Shot.

Bearing Gifts (#116531, $8.95, Pg. 31 Holiday Mini)

This single stamp from the Holiday Mini is part of SU’s attempt to provide budget stamping with style for Frugalista’s in search of a deal.  Very cute as a tag it has other uses as well.   Inked without the text can be used as an image for Baby shower, new Baby and other kid related cards in general or other types where you want a set of toys for whatever reason.  You can even ink several of these up and stamp under or over (using a mask) a tree image or one of the Christmas Tree stencil trees I showed you on Monday.  The Bear can even be inked all by its lonesome with markers.  Even the Watercolor Wonder Crayons or Pencils will work with this set.

The bright packages with ribbons, the train, and the bear have enough whimsy to draw the eyes of children, no matter how old they are.

That’s it for another Frugal Friday my fellow Frugalistas.   Tune in next week for more Holiday stamps and wheels under $20.   And in the meantime I hope you’ll come back for more creative tips, ideas and projects in progress…not to mention the occasional cat story and picture.  I’ll leave you with one of my latest cat pic finds from around the web that tickled my sense of the ridiculous.  Though if any creature could figure out how to make it into space using one of these it would probably be a cat – they designed the Great Pyramids as landing pads for spaceships right??  And they really are an alien species (ask any Dog!).   At least that’s the rumor!

Hugs and blessings – Jean

  1. Hi my friend. We must have been channeling each other yesterday as my upload yesterday uses this stamp:-) I’m so pleased you featured the Home for Christmas set. Everytime I see it, I long to open the door and peek inside and expect to see a roaring fire, a pussycat curled up on a rug and children toasting marshmallows! As many of us are separated from our loved ones, I find the sentiment really fitting, too.
Thanks for doing these roundups every week.
Hugs to you and the furry things
