Frugal Friday: Features Autumn Harvest & wheels Under $20

Dear Frugalista Frugal Friday readers,

Do you ever find yourself stamping in your sleep?  Or in your dreams?  Or sorting through your email just before you wake up?  Weird questions huh?  I realized this morning that for me the answer was yes to all the above!   And wondering if I should be a tad worried that stamping is taking over my life! 😀

When I couldn’t get my posts to co-operate last night (between my internet connection and Wordpress weirdness I finally gave up so today’s post has become tonights or maybe even tomorrows) I did a bit of stamping, a bit of designing and a whole lot of email processing before bedtime and it carried over into sleep time.   Woke up at one point trying to stamp a design into the bedcovers with a non existent stamp in my hand and then realized it was doubly funny because in my dream I was designing the card with the new My Digital Studio software so I’m not sure why my hands where trying to stamp the images for the design in the first place.  Hmmmm….guess its a good thing the cats weren’t sleeping with me or they might have gotten stamped…..went back to sleep and thought I was working on emails.  I was in the drifty place just before fully waking up and going through (or so I thought) one email after another checking the blog updates that had come in and deciding what to add to my newsletter, to blog post links and what to delete (such a cruel, cruel action using that delete key).   And then I woke up and later when I turned on my computer I was mildly shocked to discover that all that work was still waiting to  be done!   Funny how real dreams can seem even after you wake up isn’t it??

Well the good thing is I didn’t only dream about the great deals Stampin’ Up has hiding in plain sight in the catalog.  More than 151 stamp sets and wheels under $20 and that doesn’t include the accessories!   About 19 also in the new Holiday mini.   For full lists check my sidebar for downloads so you can see what you might have been missing while you thought you were wide awake.

As promised today’s Frugal Friday entry is featuring stamps and wheels with an Autumn Harvest appeal.  For those of you not into Halloween or who would like to add some harvest to your ghoulies here’s the following frugal Under $20 list to choose from.  I do have to confess though that for some of the sets mostly Halloween examples were all I could find but knowing you are all creative stampers I thought you would be able to figure out a Harvest use so included them anyway.

 Autumn Harvest images

Autumn Harvest #110372, $17.95, pg. 26 IBC

Set Quantity: 6 stamp images

Whether you come from farmland or the big city, the idea of fall brings thoughts of nature to the fore.   Autumn is the perfect time for many people to go outside and sketch the delights of the season. Our die cut Autumn Harvest set captures this rustic sketched feel perfectly.  And with our Two-Step Stampin’ design, you can add a little Halloween fun to your harvest pumpkins giving you two looks possible in one stamp set (something I look for in my frugal stamp sets).    A perfect set for creating decor for your fall dining table, invitations, cards, calendars or even a bit of fall jewelry if you are a master with shrinky dink or femo clay.   You can even stamp images on sugar cookies with food coloring though you should clean the stamps really well before doing that kind of thing.

 Coordinating Wheel:

Fall Harvest standard wheel image

Fall Harvest Standard Wheel – #112478,  $6.50, pg. 205 IBC

This wheel coordinates with Autumn Harvest or can be used all on its own with various text and greetings from other stamp sets.  Perfect for creating belly bands for cards, candles, jars or your own stationary among other uses.   I’ve even used our wheels for making impressions in femo clay that I then painted and mounted on boxes or turned into jewelry or napkin rings.    If you happen to purchase the Perfect Settings Big Shot die that is on sale this week (until Monday morning) you could use this Fall Harvest wheel on the napkin ring piece for a beautiful fall table accompaniment or on the cupcake liner piece.

Bright Blessings Wheel image

Bright Blessings Jumbo Wheel – #115626, $8.50, pg. 204 IBC

A brand new wheel that coordinates with Falling Leaves (at $21.95 this set didn’t quite make the cut off) it can stand on its own.   As a background or a focal image this wheel is perfect for Thanksgiving or any time you need or want to express gratitude and thankfulness.  You can even consider unmounting and cutting the rubber up into the various sentiments to create a full set of unmounted stamps.   While I have to admit that SU frowns on this treatment and unmounting a wheel obviously voids its warrantee you can indeed use them in this fashion.

The More the Merrier images

The More the Merrier Level 3 Hostess set ( #115322, free with qualifying purchases/workshop, p. 17).  Set of 10.

This very set covers any number of holidays and everyday occasions two of which fit fall perfectly.  The lineup of pumpkins and the acorn image are perfect for this time of year.  And depending on the colors you use even the birds and cupcakes might work as well.    And if you would prefer just the pumpkin shapes you can use a marker to ink just the outlines  and leave off the faces entirely.

SCS Gallery: – uses Autumn Harvest too!

One other Harvest related product to consider is the Autumn Harvest Rub on set.  Though designed primarily to coordinate with the set Autumn days they work well as a stand alone product and can be used to enhance cards and scrapbook pages as well as non paper items such as plates, candle holders, picture frames, mirrors, etc.  And at less than 15 cents an image very frugal indeed especially when used to create unique gift items.

Autumn Harvest Rub-ons

 Autumn Harvest Rub-Ons (#115731, $10.95, pg.177)

Stampin’ Up’s Rub-Ons are exclusive designs that look wonderful on handmade cards and tags. But they’re also perfect for adding images to difficult-to-stamp surfaces, such as glass jars, plastic notebooks, photo frames, buttons, and ribbon. 5-7/8” x 12” intricately designed Rub-On sheets.
■ 2 sheets per package: one sheet with Chocolate Chip images, and one sheet with Whisper White images
■ Can be used on unique, textured surfaces that are difficult to stamp on, such as glass, tin, and plastic
■ Should be used on nonporous surfaces, such as glass, photos, clipboards, candles, and ribbons

Hopefully this gives you a few inspiring alternatives (or additions to) the Halloween theme for your Fall Harvest crafting.   As always if you have questions, would like some design suggestions or would like to place an order for any of these wonderful products you can reach me by email or phone.

Hugs and Fall Blessings to you all – Jean
