Hi All,
Still running a bit behind but have lots of new posts in process – just need a bit more time to complete them all. Here’s the last of the Stampin’ Up 2009 Convention swaps shared with me by my Convention Angel Mary Fife.
First Up:
Monica’s lovely Circle Circus Card with In Color inks, paper and ribbon. Also uses Sincere Salutations for the greeting. Somehow makes me think of myriad worlds spinning through space or molecules whizzing through inner space or just a collection of Christmas ornaments waiting to be hung on the tree. A perfect use of space and spacing not to mention color and style.

Another Circle Circus card and though I’ve no idea where the greeting is from the layout is fun and interesting and shows this set off while giving a bit of an Asian feel to the whole thing even though the colors are not what one would expect for that feeling. Bright and happy and full of fun.

This card really grabbed my attention. Shelly used the Pick a Petal and Short & Sweet stamp sets with lots of black chunky essentials glitter. Puts me in mind of a monochromatic Peacock tail for some reason and the variation in ink coverage adds to the depth of field. Harder to see unless you click on the photo for a close up but when the card was scanned the scanner picked up more colors than black in the glitter. Not sure if it was a reflection or if the glitter actually contains red and green among other colors. Looks like little chunks of obsidian!

Lastly:
This is another card that really grabbed my attention and is I think my favorite from the entire group (though choosing just one is awfully hard in general). Sharon’s card uses the Christmas set Christ is Born stamped over top of a piece of sheet music. Lots of layers to this card as the base piece of Always Artichoke was put through one of the Texturz plates then a faux ribbon layer with Crushed curry strip, then Top Note cut music sheet and then three layers of the stamped Poinsettia and a knot of Crushed Curry ribbon. One of my favorite bits is the way the text stamp was lined up to appear like a line from the music itself even though its in red ink! That text is also a favorite of mine – Let the Heavens rejoice and the earth be glad. A line used in many, many songs and hymns in one form or another. I know this one is going to be CASE’d once I get my hands on the stamp set!

I hope you enjoyed this last look at Convention Swaps. I’m so grateful for Mary’s generous sharing. Made me feel that I was really there especially with all the lovely Memento Mall items she also included in the box. Stamping friends are definitely the best! And this inspiration will last for a good bit longer than usual now that our catalogs have returned to annual status. Can’t wait to get into the studio and CASE the whole lot!
Enjoy the beginning of a new week and try to find some time to stamp and a card or two to send a friend! Handstamped cards are gifts of the heart and brighten any day and gladden every heart that receives one.
Hugs and blessings my friends from a chilly Southern Oregon – Jean
