RAK from a friend…there’s nothing like a handmade card!

Hi All,

There’s nothing like a handmade card to make your day….right?

Jackie's RAK envelope 001

With our high heat days here in Southern Oregon I saw this envelope on my desk and it seemed very appropriate.  No sandy beaches or Palm trees where I live but if I could step into this picture I would…..mmmm….sea breezes, shady chair, a perfect vacation spot.  Take me away Calgon.  (What I’m still here???….. Oh, well maybe it requires a chalk picture and Mary Poppins for things like that to happen :D).

Having seen the fun envelope I checked inside and lo and behold even more goodness.   This gorgeous little jewel was a RAK card I received from a new blogging friend Jackie Wright (Hi Jackie :D)a short time ago.  Jackie's RAK card front 001

The dsp has since retired (Good Morning Sunshine) but the stamp sets (Oval All & Forest Friends) and the scallop oval punch used on the front have moved on in to the new 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog – YaY!!   Every time I open this fun little 3×3 card I can’t help smiling.   Does this little bunny from the stamp set Forest Friends not look like Bambi’s friend Thumper or what!  Just too cute!  Especially since Jackie made him a pop up bunny.  He pops right up as you open the card!  And the tree image is one of my fav’s too.  I used to be an ardent needle-worker and stencil painter  and I love Shaker and Amish designs.  This tree is so similar to some Tree of Life images that I jumped for joy when it appeared in last Springs  Occasions Mini.

Check out Jackie’s wonderful blog here.   Her post with the details for this card is here.  Her pictures are way better than mine.  But then she’s working with an actual camera and not a scanner- lol!

For some more very cool ideas for this tree stamp check out blogging demo Sharon Field’s blog here and here (or you could go to the top of her page and type Forest Friends into the search line and see all her terrific Forest Friend projects).

Now that I’ve plugged a few  fun blogs…..

Did I mention that in addition to making the card, Jackie also made the envelope?   Yep that’s one talented lady!   She designed it with a lovely magazine page so the image was perfectly lined up with the address labels.  To make my fantasy of stepping into the picture just a wee bit more possible (in my own head anyway) I carefully removed the labels so I could enjoy the full view.   Don’t you just love it when the envelope is as exciting as the card.    Like I said at the beginning of this post:

There’s nothing like a handmade card to make your day….right?

Send someone a handmade card today and spread the joy!

Hugs and blessings my friends – Jean

PS:  Thanks again Jackie for adding joy to my life with this awesome card.

  1. Hey friend! Imagine my surprise when I found out by accident (yea, thanks for telling me!) that you have a blog now…you little sneak! I can’t wait to see it all and take it all in. But as I was scrolling, that envelope and card looked familiar…now I know why. I’m so glad you thought enough of my card to include it here. You are easy to please! I’ll be back for sure!
